introduction to VFX
example of visual effects: Halo 2 Anniversary Remastered cutscenes, Blur Studio.
why have VFX?
VFX are important in shows like horror or sci-fi to create the illusion that something is there when it is not. An example of this would be in Star Wars; the lightsabers are actually just plastic swords with added FX over to create the illusion of the blade.

Another example of this would be in the Avengers, most of the sets are actually green screen and CGI.

a final example, Doctor Who. When the Dalek’s shells open up in the show the creatures and moving parts are CGI. This is the only example of this as the creatures inside are SFX.
