18/01/2020 Character Stills

In my game, I plan to have a dialogue system where a still of the character stands behind a text box as the dialogue progresses. To help some of the artists on my team visualise this, I have drawn some example stills to use as place holders. These will come in handy for my presentation.

15/01/2020- Space Ranger

The Space Rangers are meant to be the lawful good of this side of the galaxy, ruling most of the planets in Pistanthro-V system. The rangers are in charge of making sure transactions are legal, criminals are incarcerated and they are following the tail of the Raiders under the command of the Cult.

Inspiration for Space Ranger design:

18/01/2020- Bounty Hunter Leader, Morrison

Morrison is the Leading member of the Bounty Hunter crew in Pistanthro-V, who is willing to do anything to make money, even teaming up with the system’s most vilified terrorists. Morrison will throw you under the bus for money in the end.

Bounty Hunter Leader inspiration:

20/01/2021 – Shadow antagonist- ‘Widow’

Widow is the main antagonist and final boss (depending on your choices), she is the leader of the terror cult ‘Sanctum’ and has hired an entire army’s worth of bounty hunters, mercenaries and otherwise to build a planet crushing fleet and army of loyal soldiers. Her backstory stems from an event that happened when she was only young, she was kidnapped and turned into a cyborg with near supernatural powers, the Ranger’s refused to do anything about it so she took revenge her own way, before robbing banks, vaults, ships and otherwise to fund her fleet.

She does what she does to spread the message that the Space Rangers are a weak and pitiful excuse for protectors, and soon they shall be run out of the system and entire galaxy due to their failure to act against the rising Sanctum.

21/01/2021 – Unnamed Super-Commando

This is one of Sanctum’s highest ranking soldiers and members, given the role ‘Super-Commando’ for their valiant efforts coordinating attacks and battles for the cult. This very soldier will be the one contacting the player demanding an audience with them on the planet Proditiophobia, the main HQ of Sanctum, before ordering a small bunch of starships and frigates to ambush and hold the Ghost Fleet against their will– against your will.

Inspiration for the Sanctum armour:

The helmet is inspired from an old concept from the Imagined World’s project, the agent, the shape has been greatly chiselled and modified as well as the obvious colour swap.

Capes, capes, capes; the standard of every villain ever. Moff Gideon, Captain Phasma and my own bounty hunter were the inspirations for this choice. The golden shine of the armour was also inspired by Captain Phasma’s shiny chrome suit from Star Wars.

I wanted to also draw parallels between the bounty hunter and the footsoldiers of the Sanctum, with the red cape connoting some sort of theme with outfits of the cult, and to have the art style subtley identify the bounty hunter as a sneaky, treacherous weasel who will betray you for money.

Sanctum Royal Guard:

Guards were specifically stationed at the Sanctum on Proditiophobia, selected as the most die-hard loyalists and elite soldiers of Sanctum, their loyalty was rewarded with peace away from the front lines but still with a large responsibility; protect the sanctum and Widow at all costs.
